Margins divide P&L lines by turnover. Gearing is liabilities over total assets. Current ratio is current assets over creditors falling due within one year. Interest cover is operating profit over absolute finance costs. Margin ratios are hidden where reported turnover is too small relative to profit to yield a meaningful figure — typical of holding companies whose income is mostly subsidiary dividends rather than trading revenue. - Going concern
- Affirmed
“The directors have prepared the financial statements on the going concern basis as they do not intend to liquidate the Company or to cease its operations, and as they have concluded that the Company's financial position means that this is realistic. They have also concluded that there are no material uncertainties that could have cast significant doubt over its ability to continue as a going concern for at least a year from the date of approval of the financial statements ("the going concern period").”
Significant events
- “Since the balance sheet date, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have continued and remain subject to significant uncertainty. The Board has considered the potential implications of this ongoing conflict on its operations and investment portfolio. At the date of approval of these financial statements, it is not possible to reliably estimate the potential financial impact of the situation. The investment portfolio is diversified across sectors and geographies, and while there has been no direct material impact identified to date, the evolving nature of the conflict may give rise to broader macroeconomic effects, including impacts on market conditions, supply chains, inflation, and investor sentiment. The Directors will continue to monitor developments closely and assess any potential impact on the valuation of its investments. No adjustments have been made to the carrying values of assets or liabilities in these financial statements as a result of this matter.”
